Welcome to Smokey Bones Barbeque and Grill

Welcome to Smokey Bones Barbeque and Grill – Home of bad service. This was utterly the worst service at a restaurant I have ever had. Me and Jessica went to the new Smokey Bones here in Lakeland. Our waiter came and got our drink and appetizer orders… 10 to 15 minutes later, he took our meal orders… when I asked if he was going to take them. So finally our food comes out, delivered by someone else. She noticed our drinks were empty and asked what we were having. She never came back. These were our original drinks. Twenty minutes after that, after seeing our waiter several times and him asking how the food was, he never brought us more drinks. For the first time in my life, I actually had to get up at a regular restaurant and go to the bar to ask for a refill. They also screwed up Jessica’s salad and put the wrong dressing when she asked for a different kind. The entire time, our waiter was just chatting with the table next to us. Needless to say, I probably won’t be going back there.

Linux Installfest

I am currently at a Linux Installfest.. a bunch of people all around me with Linux. You can see a picture below. I think I am the only one with an IBM Thinkpad. Strange. Anyway, on the way here, I stopped by a McDonalds, and saw the following screen.

Well, I looked a little closer, and look what it said:

Anyway, here is the picture of where I am now:

Power Fluctuations

Why has the worlds power gone amuck? First Livejournal goes down for a 2 days because of power issues. Now I am reading on Slashdot that a satellite is lost in space because of a power “anomoly.” And at a job I was doing, somehow, the MAIN breaker tripped. Oddly enough, they were all on the 14th to the 15th. I think its a government conspiracy. Go out and buy UPS’s!

It came ealry!

I ordered an IBM laptop earlier this week. Tracking info said it would be here Monday, well, today, I walk up to my door and see a box sitting on the steps. I stop for a second, and my mouth drops. I walk up to the box… I quickly bring it inside, and tear it open, then I see it. The IBM logo. I heard angels above me singing. Oh, its sooo nice. Its a P4 2.4, 256MB (but I doubled this already), 30GB, WiFi. Its running XP, but I made room on the partition for Linux. My main OS. My friend also got an IBM laptop a few days ago (but his is a little older). We both played with them tonight. It was funny, someone should have taken a picture of us sitting on the couch staring at our IBMs. I’ll have to post pictures or something.

Chuck E. Cheese’s

Did you know that Chuck E. Cheese’s uses Linux?? One of the guys there had opened up a machine (one where you have a screen and you draw or something like that) to reload the paper in the printer (which is just a standard HP LaserJet). Well, he went ahead a reset the machine too I guess, and I couldn’t believe it, on the little screen, it said “Loading Linux…” I was just blown away. It was running RedHat Linux, I am unsure of what version, but I am assuming 6/7/8. The computer looked like a plain Pentium desktop machine. I didn’t get too see much past the beginning of the init loading, because I had to go play a game ;-).

New! Contacts in the form of a pill!

Last night, Jessica was taking out her contacts. This comprises of touching her eye (*shudders*), pulling it out, then putting in its little case. You then put the special solution into the case to let them float in so they don’t dry out. Well, Jessica was doing this last night, pulled one contact out just fine. However, the second one was the tricky one. She pulled the contact out and set it in its case. But here comes the funny part. She reaches down to get that special solution, but instead grabs a similiarily shaped bottle of Tylenol. She proceeds to flip it over and start “pouring” the solution into the case. Of course, the cap is on, so they all slam against the cap and make a lot of noise. She then goes “What?” and is confused as to what happened and does not understand why solution is not coming out. We had a good laugh. I guess I need to move the bottle of Tylenol.

DHL – Oh, Did you want your package?

Never ship with DHL. I ordered a Dell Computer for someone. The computer arrived safely, in three parts none the less. However, there was a part missing, but I didn’t think of it. Well, that second part came the next day. It was an APC Battery Backup. If you have ever ordered one from Dell, you know they come in their original packaging. Well, my DHL route driver left this package at my place of residence. But, he did not leave it at the door, near the shed, etc. He left it at the mailbox, out on the street, in plain sight to everyone driving by. I of course called and complained, and I was told that it was at the discretion of my driver where to leave the package, and of course, I can’t talk to his office. She then said she would file a complaint, but I think she did nothing. So if it was stolen, the shipper would have to report it, etc. etc. making my package even later. Not very fast shipping in my opinion.
