I have been taken by the Billgatus of Borg. I have been assimilated. Well, sort of. My email is now going through an Exchange server. So all of my email will probably say “Sent by Exchange” in the headers somewhere. I have done this, because ElectroNerdz has recently aquired several more servers, and one of them is an Exchange server (whom hosts other customers of ours). However, I am still using the power of the penguin via the Evolution client. In fact, the Exchange support in Evolution is great. It supports more than the actual Outlook client does. For instance, I can ACTUALLY change my Exchange password through Evolution. You can not do this via Outlook. You would normally do it through your domain controller, but when you Exchange server and your domain controller (if one is even present) are not the same, then you are just out of luck I guess. It also supports things like Out of Office and Permissions on folders. And unlike Outlook, you can have several Exchange servers opened at once. I will also now have my Contacts and Calendar automatically sync through my phone.
Sore Like an Eagle
I bought a 100 pound punching bag the other day. I’ve messed around with it a few times. The first time was with Nathan and Lowell. Let’s just say Nathan really gets into it. Well, I used it again last night by myself. I broke the hook it was hanging on. So I moved it to my shed. I may end up breaking the rafters for the room, so I need to make it a little stronger. But anyway, my hands and arms are pretty sore. Of course, my hands get all beat up. But I can feel the muscle soreness all the way to my back. So I guess it is a pretty good work out. Also, does anyone know where I can park to use the new bike trail that runs along Bartow Rd, so I can go biking this weekend?
I’ve Always Liked Epson
I finally have a good photo printer as I have always wanted one. It is not top of the line of course, and definately not new. But it works. A friend of mine gave me an Epson Stylus Photo 1280. It has USB, and the 5 color ink cartridge (they are not seperate unfortunately). It also support large format paper, and supposedly rolls of paper. I now finally can print photos, even from GIMP! In return, I am giving her my HP e-PC, a small form-factor computer, so she can use it at the front desk in her office.
Outsourcing Sucks!
I hate outsourcing. Everytime I talk to someone from some other side of the planet, they repeat everything I say, followed by “Is this correct?” YES! Just answer the question!
My New Truck
I got my new truck, here she is… now I just have to name it. Any suggestions?
Of course, the picture looks awful because there is not enough light out, and Lowell wanted to see a picture right away…
New Truck
Well, I am very close to getting a new truck. I am getting one today or tomorrow. I’m fairly excited. Yes, I will have monthly payments, but after cutting down on a few expenses here, and spending less money on gas, I should be able to make it work. And if the housing market ever goes back up a little, I could have it payed off in no time. Anyway, I am getting a Chevy Colorado. Here are some specs:
- Z71
- Deep Tint Glass
- Locking Differential
- Aluminum wheels
- XM Radio
- Front tow hooks, and rear tow hitch (jet ski, here I come!)
- “Off Road” Chassis
- Spare Tire
I got a great deal at Winter Haven Chevy. I am getting it for $22,800 after all the taxes and fees.
Jump Shake Booty
When you give your computer to a computer tech, be sure to take all disks out of the computer, or he may find things that were best not in the hands of someone with a blog.
I present to you…

The Shat
I am sitting here watching Comedy Central’s Roast of William Shatner. I commented that there were people from other Star Trek series in the audience. Jessica then said “William Shatner was in Star Trek?” … a pause … I then said “William Shatner is Star Trek.”
Behind the Zaurus’ Back
I am thinking of cheating on my Zaurus. There is a new possible love in my gadget life. It is of course, the Treo 700p. I looked at one today at a Sprint store. I was quite impressed. It’s fast, the Blazer browser works well, including on Exchange OWA, it supposedly has Bluetooth dial-up capabilities with an extra $40 service on the plan. And Sprint’s free incoming plan is cheaper than Nextel’s. However, I had to resist at the store, as I am still dependent on my Nextel for the Creditel PowerSwipe. I asked if I could set my Nextel phone to a data-only plan, but they said no, so I promptly negotiated by walking out. I’ll get some other store to do it for me. Actually, I am talking to a Creditel person who will try and pull some strings for me. It will of course, set me back $400, plus whatever else they charge me for being a loyal Nextel subscriber for several years now (yeah, like they really care). I will also be paying $76+ dollars for a case from Piel Frama whom I have become a loyal user of, and a 2GB SD card. So what do you think? Should I get it? What ever would I do with my Zaurus? Will it collect dust? Or can I still get use out of it?
Good Idea?
Do you think this is a good idea?
I am doing this because I need to transfer my old IBM ThinkPad 30GB hard drive to my new 100GB hard drive. The other computer I was using didn’t support 100GB, so I needed to get a new motherboard, and this one wasn’t in a case. My laptop is also being upgraded to 1GB of RAM, and a fresh legal (sorta) install of Office 2003 Professional. I am no so enthralled on that last one, but for the project that I am doing for a company that is keeping me working every afternoon for this last week and next week requires (sorta) me to have it. I’ll boot into Linux when I get home.
Also, I am starting a new Photo Gallery : Things Not To Do When Wiring. Check it out. Caution: May induce vomitting.
